I noticed that my little note pad is not behaving so I guess that is something I have to fix.
I also have a new laptop pc... so now I am doing a lot of learning, again. :-) so how do I find all my pictures. Let's
try! So now I know why Van wanted me to download and use Picassa. She wants me to learn it so I can show her how it works. Ha, ha, ha.
This picture has to do with my flowering xmass cactuses. I have seen xmass cactuses before but the flowers were always much simplier than these. I can't believe the beauty of these. I had been trying to make xmass cactuses to flower for many years but had never been successful. All I can figure is that I had not had/taken the time to water them and then when Jerry saw them one time looking like weeping willows and close to death he did take over and watered them. Then, voilà, we have flowering cactuses. They are so beautiful.
Well I succeded in uploading this picture from Picassa. I was even able to downsize it, less kb, so it would be less time to upload it to my blog. If I keep this up I will know way too much about computers.
So far I have learned, since Saturday, how to set up my pc with a lot of Google stuff, my Facebook, my window live hotmail and calendar. Then I downloaded Picassa, transferred pictures from my camera and uploaded them to by blog with Picassa. I have installed a grab program. I have connected with a router, wireless, to my Mac, my printer and the internet. Oh and I have also connected my cell phone through Airport.
I have never seen myself so busy.
On Monday, I made some "fire starters". We use them to start the fire in the woodstove. It is truly a neat way to start a stove. So here are pcitures to show you how it's done and what they look like.
By the way Van you should share this with Jeff or even do them yourself. I'm sure you guys will be able to apprciate these when you go to your 'chalet'.
First you need sawdust, candles and egg cartons... notice that these are not the styrofoam kind but the one that are like a cardboard.
You also need a double boiler. P.S. do not use one you would cook food with. Find an old one or one buy a cheep one. It will do quite fine for
this.
Water in the bottom of the double boiler, warm in on a medium setting. Then place old cheep candles, old ones you have or buys some in a second hand store (unbelivable what can be found in a second hand store) or buys cheepies at a Dollar store.
Once the candles are melted, remove candle wicks and place them in the bottoms of the egg carton. I guess they could be throwned out but why they burn well too. :-)
Now in the double boiler (with the wax) mix in sawdust to make a very heavy paste. With an old spoon, spoon mixture into the egg carton, let cool.
Once they are cool, cut between each... I tried scissors but find it hard to do that way so now I use a seregated knife as if it were a saw. Place them in a plastic box and they are ready to use.
You just need to light one side and place on the bottom of the stove to logs on each side and place more logs on top... and it is the very easiest way to start a fire.
Ok I do think that this blog is quite long enough and that is all there is for tonight...
BTW - Van you love to cook and this is just like a recipe so do enjoy...
